10 Best Online Resources For Learning About Consumer Bankruptcy

New bankruptcy lawyers contact me on a regular basis asking where to find information online about how to practice bankruptcy law. I usually throw out a list but I thought it would be more helpful to put it in one place.

Here, then, is my “must read” list of online resources for consumer bankruptcy law and information. They are in no particular order, so you want to subscribe to all of them in your favorite RSS reader:

1. Bankruptcy Law Network:  Over 4,000 blog posts about consumer bankruptcy law, updated daily.  I’m prejudiced because I’m a co-founder and past President of BLN.  But it rocks.
2. Bankruptcy Mastery:  Authored by Cathy Moran, a California bankruptcy attorney, Bankruptcy Mastery is an excellent nuts-and-bolts running tutorial on learning how to practice bankruptcy law.
3. Orlando Bankruptcy Blog:  Jonathan Alper has been blogging about bankruptcy since Moses parted the Red Sea.  He’s informative, topical and well-reasoned.
4. The Bankruptcy Litigation Blog:  Steve Jakubowski of The Coleman Law Firm blogs about consumer as well as corporate matters, and always has something of interest to say.
5. BankruptcyProf Blog:  Who knows more about bankruptcy than people who teach it?
6. Credit Slips:  Weblog by attorneys and law professors. Focuses on current issues involving consumer credit and bankruptcy.
7. The Consumerist:  The Consumerist is the place where you can learn about all the latest consumer rip-offs.  It gives a terrific insight into the economy and how your clients are being taken advantage of on a near-daily basis.
8. The BK Blog:  Atlanta bankruptcy lawyer Jonathan Ginsberg, one of my cohorts on BLN, blogs with such furious clarity it’s astonishing.
9. JD Supra Bankruptcy Articles:  JD Supra is a fantastic resource overall, and the articles and information submitted concerning bankruptcy issues is excellent.
10. Oklahoma Bankruptcy Attorney:  Dan Nunley’s insights into bankruptcy issues and how they impact the consumer are timely and spot on.
