When I was a kid, the girls would play double-dutch. For those of you not from a place where such a game is known, it’s jumping rope with two ropes that are moving in opposite directions.

Not easy, this game. You get a split second to jump into the mix – but once you do, you’ve got a good chance of keeping it going for awhile.

It was considered a girl’s activity, but I sucked at sports so I gave it a try. Given that I was a fat and clumsy kid, I didn’t do too well. But I had nothing else to do, so I kept trying.

Now I look around at my colleagues and see them all playing double dutch in their online marketing efforts. They’re waiting outside the moving ropes, always waiting for the perfect time to step in. [Read more...]
