Blawgs, no such thing?

I and others have had this conversation before. The word blawg is not a word other than those lawyers that use it even know.

Kevin O’Keefe spent 3 days last week at the Blog Business Summit with 100′s of bloggers. And as Kevin states in his post, Blawgs, a name without legs, there were no blawgs at the conference.

Blawgs is not term used by CMO’s and marketing professionals at large firms. Not sure they’ve ever heard of blawgs.

If you’re a lawyer using a blog for marketing by enhancing your reputation as a reliable and trusted authority, it’s blogs, not blawgs. If you want to cheekily describe your blog as a blawg among other lawyers, great, but not among your target audience – prospective clients and those who influence them. They only know blogs.

I agree completely with Kevin on this one. Call it what it is. It is a BLOG. If you are doing a practice area blog, your audience does not know what a blawg is so why confuse them. There is no marketing purpose or marketing benefit in calling a blog, blawg. And why do you want to be “cheekily”?
