My father worked for the same company for over 30 years. He was a career man, grey flannel suit and all. When we talk about what I do for a living, he doesn’t quite understand.
His idea of stability is a career, whereas mine has always been the growth of my own skillset. I went to college in the aftermath of the 1987 stock market crash, and witnessed the carnage that was the economy in the years between Gordon Gekko and Marc Andreessen.
