I think we should encourage customers to take the time to write reviews even when they are moderately pleased or upset. I know many lawyers in Phoenix who insist that their clients give their feedback every time, and this provides a very valuable input.

", in the majority of cases, people will only write reviews if they were extremely pleased or extremely upset--and, in fact, most people only write reviews if they were extremely upset. " - i disagree... take the yelp.com site review for example. If you win a case and your customer is got what he wanted or more, than you can expect for a good review, especially if you indicate them where they can do that for you. accident attorney brooklyn

I always emphasize to my clients that, in the majority of cases, people will only write reviews if they were extremely pleased or extremely upset--and, in fact, most people only write reviews if they were extremely upset. So, while you're certainly right that you should be concerned if you've received several bad reviews, you shouldn't jump to change your practice if you've received one or two. There are plenty of people who were perfectly happy with your services, but just didn't rush out to write a review.

Jay, I agree that setting up a profile on Avvo can only help small law firms. Is it against bar rules for lawyers to ask satisfied clients to post reviews on Avvo? If not, they can drown out a negative response with lots of positive responses. Also, small firms can monitor their reputation across the internet (and not just on Avvo) by setting up Google alerts on their firm name and lawyer's names. Then, if negative comments surface they can react.

Jay, Some lawyers like myself would like to claim our Avvo profile but can't. As you know, Avvo isn't available in all states. I just read that Avvo launched its service in nine more states but Oklahoma wasn't one of them.
