Thankfully I had a Mac

This last week as I made the mad dash to get clients in under the deadline of the new bankruptcy law, I was preparing pleadings, printing pleadings and getting signatures. Just as I was about to start filing the pleadings via the internet, my windoze machine crashed. This is the only thing I used this windoze machine for. Why, I just could not find a bankruptcy program I liked that would run on my Mac.

Needless to say I was in a panic. What to do, what to do!!!! Well, my Mac was up for the task. I scanned in all the pleadings and attachments, saved them to the client files on my Mac and filed them via my wonderful Mac. I continued to try to get the dumb windoze machine to even come on and it would not even boot at that point. Needless to say, the windoze machine is sitting in the garbage can out behind my garage and I now have room for one more Mac.

On a side note, I am never going to do another bankruptcy again. No, I am serious. With the changes in the law and the burden that is being placed on the attorney, I will no longer being doing them. Will I miss them, somewhat. What I will miss the most is helping people with their financial problems. But this will give me more time to concentrate on family law.

UPDATE: I was reminded today by a fine individual on the Maclaw.org email list to make sure the hard drive of my junked windoze machine was removed before I put it in the garbage. He is exactly right. And thank you to YOU for reminding me of that. Even though I had removed the HD, I should have reminded you all of that in this post.

Thanks for the vote of confidence for Macs in a law firm. I run my own practice and I am keen to buy an iBook to run my practice on.
If you have space for a new Mac, have you seen the new iMac? Very very nice!
