Grant, we started using a ScanSnap in our office (Leavenworth County Attorney) and it's been one of the best investments we ever made. We scan all incoming police reports using the ScanSnap, store the reports as pdf's on our server and store the link to the report in our case management system. That gives anyone in the office instant access to any report right from their web browser. No more searching through desks and file storage to find a report when someone calls. Anymore, I don't even bother with the paper copy of the report unless I'm filing charges and need the paper copy for the case file.
And the ScanSnap is a breeze to operate. We're getting another one after the first of the year, partly as a safety net (in case the one we have needs maintenance), and to perform some additional scanning tasks.
